The team have worked together for the previous three years.
The Algarve International team of Directors together possess more than fifty years of teaching experience. Experience that emanates from a varied cross section of the academic, creative and pastoral aspects of education. As a bespoke community school AIS are simply offering an alternative experience to the big corporate schools. An outstanding alternative.
Algarve International classes only have a maximum of twelve children per year group. This in itself points to a massive advantage concerning the attention given to each student, the rate of learning, the full covering of the yearly curriculum and most importantly the time given by our teachers to understand each student. There is no one size fits all when it comes to the education of children.
At AIS the teachers want to get to know each student, to recognise and be fully aware of their strengths and weaknesses in and outside of the classroom. Our responsibility is to educate, inspire and encourage each individual pupil to reach their potential.
The Algarve International School is a school with heart, integrity and transparency that aims to instill a love of learning. Our teams go above and beyond, creating effective and captivating lessons, teaching with positive energy in order for the students to grasp the knowledge and understanding required.
The school prides itself in adopting the philosophy of the whole child approach as well as continuously reminding students of the rewards of a positive growth mindset. Respect, self belief, confidence and happiness are all high on the agenda. These are ingredients that all staff will endeavour to build in each pupil and in the school as a whole.
Afternoon classes at AIS for Year 9 and below are all about expression, whether through sport, music, photography, art, mindfulness, PSHE or yoga. Academic work is undertaken in the mornings, giving the students something to look forward to in the later part of the day.
An innovative International School, AIS is leading the way to make education, here in the Algarve, inspiring and to teach with a difference. In September 2020 the school will open the first primary school which follows the UK curriculum but will be taught in as much Portuguese as English, on a half/half basis. The aim is to prepare younger students to be able to integrate and communicate with the Portuguese community.
The Algarve International School is making waves in a calm sea and hope your children will ride high, to achieve, on the crest of these waves.
